Premiere Pro Vintage Style Editing at the British Coast
Quite like Windows 10 summer just doesn’t seem to be available in my area right now – or at least it certainly wasn't yesterday. I’d hoped to have a day at the coast getting used to and taking some shots with the Rolleiflex, but the strong winds meant any photos would most definitely be blurry (and not just due to my lack of film photography skills).
Not wishing to damage the camera or waste any film I turned to my little digital instead and decided to take on the challenge of producing a video that made the costal walk look like it wasn't undertaken in strong wind, light rain and two coats. I left a clip in at the very end of the video below to show how it really was!
For those interested, a light and simple vintage effect was created in Premiere Pro by using the three-way colour corrector to bring out the warmer tones and then by adding a pastel yellow colour matte (with a lowered opacity and blend mode set to ‘darken’). The wind problem was overcome by use of the warp stabiliser and the audio (basically just wind battering the microphone) was unusable so I turned to royalty free stock sounds instead with an acoustic melody over the top – I guess ‘Here Comes The Sun’ will have to wait for now.
I thought I’d add in a quick update as this post does make it sound like summer has been doom, gloom and in need of a filter so far, but actually it’s been far from that. Also judging by my YouTube channel I seem to spend far too long wandering round in fields…okay that part is true. Anyway, apart form some more footage and photos from fields; I have nearly 30GB of footage to edit from a week in Paris, 5 minutes of footage from London and the Rolleiflex to conquer. So expect some of that in the coming weeks or months, yeah probably months judging by my sporadic posting schedule!
