Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain Review
Now time for something completely different! So far I've posted such a wide range of things - so why not add a product review to the list. I'm still not as comfortable with doing these but we'll see how it goes.
Starting with packaging - it's sleek, feels well designed and the shade is clearly and accurately shown so it's easy to spot if you're in a rush. Basically, I really like it. I feel like I trust it to be good from the look of the packing! It also has a wide doe-foot applicator to make application easier, but more on that later.
The new Colorstay Moisture Stains are marketed as a hybrid lip stain/glosses and come complete with an odd hybrid consistency too. It feels very thick and sort of like a mousse-y, spongey liquid gel (hmmm...A* description skills).
After a few uses I have discovered the key to loving or hating this product is in the application. On my first try I loaded the applicator, only to get patchy and uneven coverage. However, after a few attempts I found it was easier to layer thinner coats and, while it's more time consuming (especially trying to get a bold colour neat each time), it gives a more even coverage and lasts longer. This also means it's easy to use a thin layer and achieve a lighter coverage as well.
Regardless of the thickness of application you choose, I have found the staying power is quite good meaning you can laugh with salad (or pizza) all day long and still have perfect lips. Huzzah! The gloss does wear off but the colour remains and unlike most, doesn't leave lips dry (maybe something to do with it being called 'moisture stain'…I'm a genius).
The 12 shades of Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains will launch in the UK in July 2014 at £7.99 each.
